How I Got Here:Before we get down to business, I think it'd be good for you to know a bit more about me and why I'm here animating. My creative journey begins at a very young age. I would love drawing picture books, writing stories, and making things with my hands. Although I enjoyed being creative, I never made anything professionally until my late teens when I became a videographer and editor at a company producing highlights of weddings. After a year there, I chose to use what I then knew about editing to create videos for others online. I then went and picked up my first client who wanted me to create some Twitch highlight videos for their YouTube channel. Through this I learned that there was huge opportunity for creative working that was more than the serious wedding projects I'd worked on.Soon after that, my next customer came from a friend of my first client, and this ended up being a more long term partnership. Although I was still an inexperienced freelancer by the end of our time together, I learned a huge amount about my own style of editing, and how to keep up with a frequent edit-upload schedule. From there, I spent a short amount of time with lower commitment clients, really getting used to the different kinds of videos many clients wanted, and how to adapt my own style of video to the style of the client's content. With this new experience in hand, I started my longest and most challenging partnership yet. This time, I was tasked with growing a YouTube channel from scratch. No viewers, no subs, just the customer, me, and a 90-100 viewer Twitch chat. At the end of our partnership, the channel totalled over 10,000 subscribers on YouTube with a Twitch chat of now over 500 regular viewers. During this 2 year tenure, I put all of my past experience to use. I learned what it means to fully sync my editing style with a customer's entertainment, while also producing videos consistently and efficiently. This was also the first time I'd become part of a community, becoming both a professional and a fellow member of the community at the same time (which made it all the more fun to interact with everyone through the edits). After these 2+ years, I put a stop to my editing to pursue some good ol' post secondary education. Now, in my mid twenties, I'm back to editing with a revived spirit and increased knowledge, both in myself personally, and what I can bring as an editor.
